Our objective is to relieve the physiological conditions that prevent adults from getting the nighttime rest they need. Once the condition has been diagnosed, most sleep-wake disorders can be treated effectively. An accurate diagnosis relies on a thorough assessment of both the patient’s physical and emotional health. Fortunately, many patients can improve the quality of their lives with only a modification of their sleep schedules. For others, the best solution may involve breathing-assistance devices (CPAP), medication and /or psychotherapy. Occasionally, surgery may be necessary to relieve severe breathing problems that disturb sleep.
